Punggol's First Major Sports Centre
The Punggol Regional Sports Centre is one of the largest sports infrastructure projects in Singapore's northeast. Sitting on a 30-hectare site at 11 Sentul Crescent, the complex will include a 5,000-seat FIFA-compliant stadium, 20 badminton courts, a water sports centre, a gym, and a swimming complex with five pools. It is being built by Hyundai Engineering & Construction.
Construction started in January 2020 but was significantly delayed by COVID-19. The original completion target of 2023 was pushed back to 2026. The sports centre sits behind the One Punggol integrated hub and will serve the rapidly growing Punggol and Waterway neighbourhoods.
The swimming complex is the standout feature for residents. The 50-metre infinity-style competition pool will have 8 lanes, complemented by a sheltered 8-lane training pool with underwater viewing panels - a first for a public pool in the northeast. A diving pool, interactive leisure pool with jacuzzi, and a learner/kiddy pool complete the lineup.
